Why We Love This Home (and you will too!)

This house at 2 Bennett Hill Road has been our home for the past decade. We have enjoyed making many family memories which have included: enjoying social gatherings on the spacious, private deck; celebrating birthdays and holidays with friends and family in the large, open kitchen/dining area; and taking long walks and hikes in the lovely pine forest that abuts this property. Even though we are in a private, wooded lot we are close to major highways and shopping areas.

Our daughters have enjoyed riding their ATVs along the trails that exist directly behind the house – with our yellow lab, Daisy, following along. In the winter months, our house is the place to be. Our friends and family enjoy sledding down the clear cut 20’ wide path down the hill and then drinking hot chocolate by the warmth of the woodstove. Other seasonal favorite pastimes of ours include: enjoying roasting marshmallows on the deck and drinking morning coffee or afternoon iced tea on the front farmers’ porch or the deck while enjoying the sounds and sights of nature. We are often serenaded to sleep by the great horned owl that lives in the woods and we sometimes wake up to the sweet sounds of birds chirping. Being in the woods, we have the pleasure of seeing a wide variety of wildlife which includes: wild turkeys, deer, foxes, birds, and we even saw a turtle passing through our backyard once!

We love how this house seems to blend right into its wooded surroundings. As you will notice, there are not any wires or cables leading to the house. We opted to have them placed underground so the house would look more natural on the lot. Our dreams and plans for this house included several expansions/improvements. When we added the deck in 2001, we intentionally raised the portion near the sliding doors in hopes of adding a sunroom or 3-season porch in the future. Another addition we planned on doing involved a two car garage off the side door. We hoped to put a large master bedroom over that garage which is why we had the septic system oversized to accommodate 4 bedrooms rather than the existing 3. We also hoped to finish off the basement which is why we chose the higher ceilings.

Some features of this house that make it a special, unique, and cozy

Wide pine floors (Eastern White pine)
Tilt in Anderson windows on 2nd floor for easy cleaning/maintenance
Efficient, warm, money-saving woodstove for heating entire house
Custom made kitchen and bath cabinets – easy open and close
Custom crown molding throughout the first floor
Ceiling fans in all bedrooms, living room, family room, and stairway
Central Air Conditioning
New (2006) hot water heater
Television room is wired for surround sound
Roomy closets and kitchen pantry
Nicely placed bay window in dining area overlooking natural surroundings and unique Wisteria tree
Large, immaculate, storage shed (purchased in 2004)
