Why We Love this House
My mother was delighted with her new home when she moved here from Florida. She had lived in a single family house and was used to lots of sunshine, flowers, and ocean. Her eyes lit up to see the open, spacious area which allowed her to fit in all the furniture she had brought. The southern exposure provided plenty of sunshine, and being able to go out onto the balcony via sliding doors from either the living room or the guest bedroom made her feel she could be outside whenever she wanted to be.
The second floor was ideal, her “perch” from where she enjoyed looking out onto the lovely courtyard, appreciating the beautiful tree with pink blossoms that bloomed right off the balcony, and tending her own flower box and hanging plants. Unlike Florida, the ocean breeze was a refreshing one so that she used the A/C only 1-2 days each summer.
Then, too, she felt very cozy in the winter. Keeping warm was no problem since she was surrounded by “warm” neighbors. Even in February she would often smile broadly and say “I love living here.”
