Why we love our house! Having lived in a much smaller flat in Cambridge, England for 4 years before returning to the US, finding our new/current home on 34 Washington Street, Ipswich, in 2002 was truly serendipitous and delightful. We fell in love instantly with the size – obviously – spacious kitchen, master bedroom, and the huge Jacuzzi was something we were not familiar with!
The additional 2 rooms on the 3rd floor helps a lot when we have guests/friends staying over, which has been more often than we had anticipated. All the folks who had the opportunity to sleep on the top floor talked about the fresh and serene feeling that comes with being there. Now that we have a child who is no longer a baby, having a separate room for toys on the 3rd floor helps us to keep the house tidy and organized.
Since we live only 5 minutes – walking! – from both the Train Station and the downtown area where they have some nice cafés and restaurants, not to mention the Ipswich Library with an impressive children’s reading room has been a great delight for us.
Our neighbors have been helpful, resourceful, and above all, fun to hang out with. It’s a neighborhood for all ages: from toddler to retirees, yet we all truly enjoy one another’s presence. We are sorry to say good-bye to such a comfortable house; we will miss it. It was, after all, our first home!
