How do I move members from my old site to my new site?

Option 1:

1. Prepare a broadcast email on your old site - "Hi everyone! I'm moving my web site to a new domain name and know that you'll want to be included when I move on (moving date). Everyone involved in the testing has been absolutely delighted withall the new features! So that there will be no interruption in the emails you get from me, please go to www.(your domain name).com today and register. (Since you can choose your own password, you might want to keep the one you're used to.) Call or email me if you have any questions."

2. Send the email to all members 10 days prior to the date you plan to shut off your old site. Call clients ahead of time and let them know the email is coming. Don't worry about calling the non-client members. They'll find their own way to your new site if they still want the information. If they don't want it, they won't.

3. Remove the sign up button on your old site immediately and add a large, hard to miss link that says "Click here to go to my new site!". Make sure it's linked to your new site! Call us if you need help.

4. 5 days prior to shutting down the old site, send this email: "Hi All! Just a reminder that if you haven't already done so, you've only got 5 days to register on my new site if you want your daily emails to continue. If you haven't registered on the new site as of (shutdown date of old site), your emails and MLS access will STOP. So go to www.(your domain name).com today and register. So far, everyone has been absolutely delighted with my new site and all the new features! Don't miss out! Call or email me if you have any questions."

5. 3 days prior to the shut down date, go to your old site, remove all information and display only the link that says "I've moved. Click here to find me." Again, make sure it links it to your new site.

6. During that last week, contact us and we'll tell you how to get control of your old domain name. Then, you can point it to your new site so you can still use all those envelopes, stationary, business cards, etc. that has your old web address on it. And you can keep promoting the old address because once it's pointing to your new site, it won't be the old address anymore.

Option 2:

We will move 100 of your members for free. We have a charge after 100. To have us move your members, send us each of your member's profile including name, phone, email, address, and search criteria.

How do I point my old site to my new site address?

You will need to change the DNS address (Domain Name Server).

1. Go to www.nsi.com . Click WHOIS (top right of page) and fill in your domain name (i.e. callkenny.com). If your domain name is registered with NSI, your account info (administrative contact, etc.) will be displayed. If not, your domain name and "registrar" will be displayed. Go to that registrar's site to get your account info. (Call us if you need help!)

2. Review the WHOIS search results defining ownership of site. Check to see if you are listed as the Administrative Contact and Technical Contact for the domain. To ensure that there are no problems in changing the DNS address, you need to make sure that you are listed as both the administrative and technical contact. You also need to confirm that your email address associated with your domain is correct (otherwise you will need to update it with your registrar).

3. If you are not BOTH the administrative and technical contact for your domain: Call your registrar and tell them that you want to change the technical and / or administrative contact(s) so that it is you. Explain that you own the domain name and that a wholesaler set up your account. You are no longer doing business with this wholesaler and want to become a retail customer with your own name and password. You also wish to change your DNS address to NS1.IMAXSALES.NET and NS2.IMAXSALES.NET.

The account rep. will email you a "Transfer From Wholesale to Retail Status Form" to be filled out and faxed back to registrar.

Once the registrar receives the Transfer Form, they will make the change and email you your new account number and password. The change usually takes 1 business day. (Call us if you need help!)

As part of this process, your registrar may or may not request that you prove you are who you say you are.

4. If you are already BOTH the administrative and technical contact and have login information for your account with your registrar, either:

a) go to the registrar's web site and login to your account. Then edit the domain name servers and change them so that they are NS1.IMAXSALES.NET and NS2.IMAXSALES.NET. Make sure you save the change.

b) send your account login information as well as the name and web site of your registrar to help@imaxsales.net with a brief note explaining that you want us to point your DNS to iMaxWebSolutions for you. We will then login to your account and handle it for you.
