Registering MembersFAQ help topics: Your Old Web Site | Lead Generation | Use My Site FAQ help topics: Web Browsers What can I do to improve my chances of being #1 on search engines? Your site must contain text that is clearly related to your business. Here's how to do this: 1. Include words that a visitor would search for, like: Find, Search for, homes, condos, condominiums, apartments, multi families, land, horse properties, antiques, new construction, rehabs, foreclosures, farms, properties, real estate, for sale, MLS, MA, Massachusetts, Buy, Buyer, Sell, Sold, name of towns in your market area, etc. Tip: The public does not search for Realtors! Where to add these search words: A. Add search words to default page titles and descriptions. - Click the "Web Site" button and then select "Site Branding." - In the "Site Name" area, we recommend entering a sentence containing your name and the towns you service. Example: "Bob Realestate: Houses and condos for sale in Beverly, Ipswich, Manchester, and Gloucester, MA." This will be used as the default page title for your web pages. - In the "Site Description" area, add a description of your web site that will display as part of a search engine's search results. This description will be used as the default description for all your web pages. B. Add search words to each web page. - Click the "Web Site" button and then select "Web Pages." - Next, find the web page you want to customize and select "Edit." - At the top of the screen, click the "Show Page Controls" button. - In the "Title" area, enter your customized page title. - In the "Keywords" area, enter the keywords that will help search engines find your page. - In the "Description" area, enter the description of your page that you want to display as part of the search results. 2. Other Search Engine Tips: A. Title text is more important than plain text. B. Text at top of a web page is more important than text at bottom of page. C. Use sentences on Web site, not just a string of words. D. Add a link to your listings and sales on your side bar. When the link is clicked, the iMax system will auto-generate a page which displays all your listings. Your Agent Remarks on each of your listings can be found by search engines. - To do this, click the"Web Site" button and then select "Sidebar." - Determine the vertical location on the sidebar that you wish to place the link and then, from the "Select New Section to Display" drop down menu, under "LINK TO," select "MY MLS Listings." Click the "Add" button. - The "My MLS Listings Page" will display. Your MLS listings page will include listings for the agent(s) shown in the "MLS Agents" box at the top top of the screen. To add or remove agents, click the "Add / Remove MLS Agents" link beneath the list of agents. The page contains other options allowing you to shape how your listing page displays. When finished, click the "Save Changes" button at the top. E. Text depicted in a JPG image cannot be searched by a search engine. Add text behind all images by putting a description of the image in the "Alternate Text" field. - Click the "Web Site" button and then click the "Go" button next to the "Image Menu" drop down list. - Find the image you want to add "Alternate Text" for. Enter a description of image in the "Description" field. Click the "Save Changes" button. F. Add your market towns to your home page: Add Market Area Text section. This section type automatically adds a list of your Members' Search Towns. G. Side Bar - Add relevant text and links. H. Header - If header is an image, add text behind the image, see above. I. Footer - Add relevant text and links. J. Make sure all important information is in a text format rather than within an image. Continue: Search Engines - page 3 |
