Registering MembersFAQ help topics: Your Old Web Site | Lead Generation | Use My Site FAQ help topics: Web Browsers How can I get search engines to find my site? First, review your Site Branding - Click Website > Edit Site Branding. "Site Name" and "Site Description" need to contain "relevant" information to the search words and phrases that a potential viewer would type into Google, AOL, etc. The "Site Name" and "Description" of your home page should read something like the following: All MLS Homes, Condos, Land and Real Estate For Sale in Beverly, Danvers, Gloucester, Rockport, Ipswich MA (use your own towns!). The site description can be the same. Or, if you think of another word or phrase someone might use, put it in. The only wrong thing to do is to leave it blank. Then make sure each, individual web page has keywords and description filled out! Do it automatically for newly created pages by filling out the page defaults. Click Website>Default Page Settings > then fill in Keywords and Description with the examples shown above. Each photo on your home page needs to have relevant text "behind" it. Fill out the "Alternate text to display ..." section with the address of the image ie. "Beverly MA 01915" or "123 Main St. Beverly MA 01915". Click Home Page > then find the image you want to edit and click Edit Section > fill in "Alternate text to display"with the address of the photo. Finally, check to see that all of your market towns are shown at the bottom of your home page (See www.callkenny.com for examples.) To track your results, wait a few weeks and run 2 visits reports: click Reports > under System Reports, fill in a date range for the previous month > Run Report. Then, run it again for the few weeks before that. How do I guarantee my page shows up on search engines? For Google, you can sign up with their Ad Words program and bid for a position in the Sponsored Links section of searches. Your link will appear either above the search results, or to the right of the results. https://adwords.google.com/select Google's Ad Words are used on Google.com, AOL.com and EarthLink. For Yahoo, you can sign up with their Overture Precision Match(tm) service. Enter in the keywords describing your site and they'll provide you with the most common searches for those keywords and the average number of views and clicks for those searches so you can target the best audiences possible. As with Ad Words, you bid on the search term for placement and your link will appear above or to the right of the search results. The higher you bid, the more prominently your link is displayed. http://www.content.overture.com/d/USm/ays/choose.jhtml Yahoo!/Overture ads appear on Yahoo.com, MSN.com, AltaVista.com, CNN.com, AllTheWeb.com, etc. Continue: Search Engines - page 2 |
